Tenant EngagementOne of my key objectives since becoming Chief Executive back in 2018 was to really listen and act upon the views of our tenants. For years I had been carrying out regular quiz nights at one of our sheltered schemes and this had given me the opportunity to get to know many of our residents, build trust and develop a much better understanding of their personalities and expectations. In 2018 I started the tenant engagement initiative, a programme consisting of a wide range of events and activities that would appeal to as many of our tenants as possible. The idea was to create an opportunity for us spend time getting to know you in a fun and relaxed environment, with the only cost to the tenant being the completion of a 5-minute questionnaire about what they need, expect and want from KCHA as a landlord. A number of property improvement ideas have been suggested and implemented since the beginning of the engagement work, and we have also managed to encourage residents to become more involved with the strategic planning of the association, but perhaps the most satisfying result of this work is the new friendships that were formed during our events and that have developed beyond. Entry, all activities and lunch is all paid for. Coach travel is also provided for some of our outings outside of Elmbridge, Kingston & Merton and neighbouring boroughs (e.g. Brighton trip).
The following events and activities shave been enjoyed by our KCHA tenants and their families: • Book Clubs • Chessington World of Adventures • Christmas Parties • Ham House • Hampton Court Palace • Kew Gardens • Pantomime • Quiz Nights • Riverboat Cruise • Seaside Trip • Summer Garden Parties • Theatre • Yoga The feedback shows that our trips are not only a fun way to be more inclusive with all of our wonderfully diverse tenants, but they have removed serious cases of isolation and improved the level of trust in KCHA. I am pleased to announce that we have some exciting Tenant Engagement activities planned again for this year: Sculpture Park – Tuesday 4th July 2023 (Sheltered residents) Chessington World of Adventures – Wednesday 16th August 2023 Littlehampton Seaside trip – Tuesday 22nd August 2023 Arundel Castle trip – Tuesday 24th October 2023 If you are interested to know more about KCHA’s Tenant Engagement Activities or to express your interest in joining us at one of our events, please do not hesitate to contact us – [email protected] / 0208 399 7221 Keep your eyes peeled on our website for more engagement activities in the future!
