Development & Growth

In May 2018 we started work on our first development of new homes in over 20 years.  The development was an infill (our existing land) project involving demolition of 8 garages, removing a concrete hardstanding and converting a significant portion of the communal gardens.

The following year we were able to successfully deliver three new beautiful looking family homes that were built to a high quality and with disabled access.  The homes benefited additionally benefited from a wildflower feature flat roofs and electric car charging ports.

KCHA held an officially opening ceremony that was attended by all stakeholders, local press and the new families that were moving in.  It was officially opened on the 12th of June 2019 by local MP for Kingston and Surbiton, Sir Ed Davey.  Sir Ed was very impressed following a tour of all three homes and remarked that KCHA were “setting new standards in social affordable housing.”

KCHA would like to thank the following people, without whom these homes could not have been possible:

 • Residents of 22 & 24 The Avenue
 • Archadia Architects (Principle Designer)
 • Galvin Projects (Principle Contractor)
 • Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames

KCHA recognises there is a severe shortage of truly affordable housing and that in is important for us to look at how to play our part in increasing the supply in a way that impacts our community in a positive and sustainable way.  We are currently drafting a long-term rolling plan to deliver more homes within the boroughs in which we operate.  Not all of our projects can be completed alone and from our own finances, so we are always looking at opportunities for partnership working with local authorities and other housing associations.
KCHA has grown in terms of individual dwellings by 25% in the last 10 years. This includes a successful merger with Wilberforce Housing Association in 2011 comprised of sixty flats, acquisition of two homes converted into 5 flats and our most recent development.

If you have properties for sale or are looking to work in partnership with us, please contact our Chief Executive, Ross Brown at [email protected].
