Staff Training

KCHA fully encourages and supports training for all our staff through academic learning, accreditation courses and sector seminars.  This training allows us to acquire and improve specific skills, and to gain a wider understanding of our role within the Association and community.  The better trained our staff, the better our service is to you.

In addition to the above and on a cyclical basis (every 2- 3 years), KCHA dedicates two to three full days per year covering the following topics:

• Customer Service
• Data Protection
• Equality & Diversity
• Fire Safety Awareness
• First Aid
• Health and Safety
• Homelessness
• Tenant Engagement/Satisfaction
• Welfare Advice (Universal Credit/Housing Benefit)

Our work is further enhanced by specialist training in the following areas:

• Finance
 - Housing Association Finance
 - Budgeting
 - Risk Analysis
• Legal
 - Anti-Social Behaviour
 - Government Legislation
 - Possession Hearings
• Regulation
 - Financial Conduct Authority (FAC)
 - Housing Ombudsman
 - National Housing Federation (NHF)
 - Regulator of Social Housing (RSH)

Our current staff comprises two fully qualified members of the Chartered Institute of Housing, two university graduates and one certified management accountant.  There is also a wealth of experience and dedicated service specific to KCHA among our staff, with the average length of service of our staff team being 12 years.  The Association will continue to support and contribute to staff members achieving professional qualifications relevant to their role within the association.

I am pleased to say that as part of our tenant engagement programme, KCHA also offers a range of training for our tenants.  For example, our partnership with Venture Digital (Website Hosts) includes the offer of basic IT and Digital training once a month at our sheltered schemes.

If you are interested to know more about KCHA’s training commitments to staff and opportunities for you, please do not hesitate to contact us – [email protected].
